“Tattooing is about personalizing the body, making it a true home and fit temple for the spirit that dwells inside it.” -Michelle Delio
Good day D-S-P readers! With everything going on with the CrossFit Open and the upcoming endurance competition season the majority of the blog’s focus has been on training. However, if you look above you will see a regrettably negelcted section titled Tattoos, Coffee, Style. So here goes a small post for that section and to show some much deserved gratitude to some fantastic folks at an amazing tattoo shop!
Shout out to the crew at Fist Full of Metal Tattoo in the Fremont area of Seattle, WA! Over the past two weekends two of their artists, Khalil and Charlie, gave me some awesome new ink. I can’t say enough good about this shop and all of the artists tattooing and creating other mind-blowing works of art there. If you are in the Seattle area and looking for a place to get some ink done, look no further! The entire shop is covered in flashes and other works that cover all different styles and genres, but most were originals by the shop artists. There are some tattoo styles and genres I’m not a big fan of, but like I told Khalil the other day, I would literally get any flash or piece of art in the shop tattooed on me! They’re that good!
Khalil hooked me up with the awesome tiger in my knee ditch. His use of color and shading is incredible and coupled with tight line work makes this a one of a kind piece of art! Khalil also has another piece in the works for me. I’ve seen the preliminary sketch but I’m going to keep it under wraps for now! Think classic, abstract, dark vibe and you’ll be in the right ballpark. In addition to my tattoos he’s also drawing up a design for the t-shirt I will be selling at work as a fundraiser! I cannot thank Khalil enough for his time, skill, and generosity!
Check out more of his work on his Facebook page.
The first time I stopped into FFOMT Charlie introduced me to the shop as was nice enough to take me as a walk in! She did some beautiful work on my wrist that holds within a lot of meaningful memories. Also, she did some lettering work on my wrist which reads “Discipline” and “Strength.” These, as you are probably aware, are themes in my guiding philosophy in life. Needless to say, this was a meaningful evening for me. Thanks Charlie for giving me a permanent reminder of pleasant past memories and daily dose of motivation!
There are several other artists in the shop as well Chris, Megon, and Ego. All are just as talented in their own unique way. You cannot go wrong getting tattooed by any of them. Much love and respect goes to every one at FFOMT!
