DISCIPLINE-STRENGTH-PERFORMANCE

AN EDURANCE ATHLETE’S JOURNEY TO COMPETITION THROUGH CROSSFIT AND LIVING PALEO

“Discipline is the refining fire by which talent becomes ability.” -Roy L. Smith

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!20140123-204223.jpg

My name is John and I am an  endurance athlete, amateur triathlete, and avid CrossFitter currently living the clean Paleo lifestyle in Tacoma, Washington! In addition to preparing for my first Ironman and other endurance events I am heavily involved in CrossFit from a training and coaching perspective. In August 2013 I earned my CrossFit Level 1 teaching certification and recently received my certification in CrossFit Endurance. Currently, I am coaching at JBLM CrossFit on Ft. Lewis, WA. As a coach I specialize in running, biking, swimming, and nutrition. Also, I have passed the CrossFit Judges Course and will be judging and competing in the 2014 CrossFit Games Open! You can check out my official CrossFit Games page here.

imageOn Discipline-Strength-Performance you can expect to see daily posts focused on my training with the majority of my programming coming from CrossFit Endurance. Along with my daily training log you will find useful and interesting links and information on topics such as CrossFit, upcoming competitions, paleo nutrition/lifestyle, supplements, triathlon and CrossFit gear, books on training, athlete bios, and some posts on my other obsessions like tattoos, coffee, men’s style/grooming and more!

If you like what you see on here leave me a comment and share with your friends. Let’s spread the word on the sports of CrossFit, endurance athletics, and the incredible communities they have created!

  1. This is good stuff man

  2. Good idea to get more rest. Resting is when you make a large part of your gains.

  3. Your gains seem to be coming along at a better rate…I cant wait to see some of your logo ideas.

    • Thanks for the comment John Richard! Yes, gains are coming along. Weight is up to 161lbs and swimming has improved drastically as has biking. Running…not so much. But I’m working on it. Check out http://www.mobilitywod.com, I signed up for the MWOD Pro, you should consider it. We may have to wait a bit on the logo designs, my art department is a little backed up/lazy right now!

  4. Don’t be afraid to add some weight to those squats, strong quads ,good base , stronger lifts. Keep up the good work.
